The Archaeological Park of Tufo between Sorano, Pitigliano, Sovana
Sorano and Pitigliano are dark tuff country, built on terraces cut into a cliff open. Resembling a block of crystal parallelepipeds in an urban landscape created by a cubist.
The park was opened in 1998 at the initiative of Municipality of Sorano, in collaboration with the Region of Tuscany and the Superintendence for Archaeological Heritage of Tuscany, the Archaeological Park covers an extensive, strongly marked by the erosive action of streams and then by a unique and fascinating landscape, full of deep canyons that open nell'altopiano.
The Archaeological Park is proposing a route that carries out in full the synthesis between nature, landscape and monuments of the medieval and Etruscan civilizations.
Includes the town of Sovana, with its most significant monuments, streets and quarries necropoli that develop around them, with the famous Ildebranda tomb, tomb of the Siren, Pola grave, grave and tomb of Pisa Silenus.
In the immediate vicinity of Sorano, in a panoramic position above the river Lens, is also the setting rupestre di San Rocco, with its historical ruins of the medieval age. From here you can reach Sorano and visit the Orsini Fortress, which houses the Museum of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.
A visit to the park is completed by the village of Vitozza rock placed in the immediate vicinity of the village of San Quirico di Sorano, with its two hundred caves.

Le Vie Cave
Cavone also called, are a charming road of Etruscan connecting various settlements and necropolis in the area between Sorano, Sovana and Pitigliano. Around the Street Sorano Cave originate from the Porta dei Merli, descending towards the valley of the River Lente. La Cava di via San Rocco goes up the side of the country along the ruins of the church of San Rocco, behind which stretches a vast Etruscan necropolis with graves dug out of tufa. Colombari many are between Poggio and Poggio San Rocco Cross.
Archaeological Area of Sovana

Vitozza
